About me

I’m a 31 year graduate of the University of Westminster where I studied a Computer Games BSc degree, specialising as a programmer. Prior to the degree, I worked for a number of years as an information analyst in the telecoms industry, and before that studied a National Diploma in Graphic Design at art college.

Since graduation I’ve worked for a small startup company in Cambridge called Deep Visuals. They specialise in developing software for the semantic browsing of collections of images, audio, and video. My primary work with the company has been as a web developer and designer. I’m lucky enough to have worked with both front and back-end code, had an exposure to cloud-computing, and have had a chance to exercise my creativity during development.

The Future

I’m continuing to sharpen and diversify my programming skills in my own time. I’ve become very interested in web and mobile, and the possibilities of delivering rich connected content through those platforms. This has led me to start learning Web Development frameworks like Ruby on Rails as well as beginning to pick up mobile development on the Android platform.

Outside of work

In my own time my interests are hiking, distance running, cycling, bicycle maintenance and repair, Ultimate Frisbee, music (indie pop, electronica, folk), film (all, except romantic comedy), travelling, Reading Football Club, vegetarianism and animal welfare, taking photos, the environment and being green. Also, Peanutbutter.
