Since joining Automattic, I’ve worked on the open source side of WordPress as a developer, maintainer, and more recently the lead of a team of developers.
In that time, my primary focus has been Gutenberg, a project that introduced a new paradigm for building websites with WordPress—the block editor. This website you’re reading right now was built using the WordPress block editor.
My original role as an individual contributor was a first experience of working as an open source maintainer, and that came with its own unique challenges, but also many learning experiences. I’ve since transitioned to a team lead role, using that experience to guide a small team of devs in delivering important features for the WordPress project.

Kahoot! is a popular multi-player quiz game played by millions all around the world. It holds particular popularity in the world of education, where it’s used by teachers for formative assessment.
I joined Kahoot! as a developer at a time when they were a small but rapidly growing start-up. After some time, I moved into a team lead role, and helped to deliver important features all across the platform.
One of the things I enjoyed most about working at Kahoot! was the focus on design-led product development. The product teams were small and creative cross-functional teams, and I found this led to us delivering to a very high quality work.
